Five months after our coffee first hit the streets of New York, September 11 changed the city.

Our founders were there. They saw first responders, volunteers and people from everywhere showing up to help.

They weren't a big company.

But they had coffee.

So that's what they gave.

And they kept giving it.

Over the years, coffee continued finding its way to shelters, schools, clubs and community organizations through hard times, ordinary times and whenever there were people who could use a good cup.

Eventually, we gave that habit a name.
